Mission
Build the Future of Coffee, Together.
2050 coffee was founded to help coffee move from an industry that consumes to one that grows the future. Our purpose is to build a system where the people who drink coffee and the people who grow it can shape that future together.
Why 2050
Named after coffee's 2050 problem.
By 2050, demand for coffee is expected to outgrow supply. A warming climate and rising demand already put farms under pressure around the world.
Our hypothesis is simple. Partnering with farmers who put sustainability and quality first, and using technology to bring their coffee to more people, can help change that future. We test it shop by shop.
Purpose / Mission / Vision
What we're working toward
Purpose
A system where drinkers and growers shape the future together.
Today, most of the value stays where coffee is consumed, while the climate and price risks fall on the people who grow it. We want to change that structure through the way our business works.
Mission
Good coffee as part of everyday life.
High-quality, transparent coffee that is fast, fun and easy to choose in the middle of city life. And every one of those daily cups connected to the long-term future of the countries where coffee grows.
Vision
By 2050, a world where every cup supports the farms behind it.
We're not trying to be the cafe chain with the most shops. We're building a new kind of coffee infrastructure, where quality, speed, design, sustainability and our relationships with producing countries all work as one.
Who we are
Technology makes the cup. People tell its story.
A great cup, fast, the same every time. And a chance to learn a little more about coffee, and start thinking about its future. Every 2050 coffee shop offers both.

Your daily cup
The cup you drink in the shop and the beans you take home come from the producers we partner with.
02

Not just once, but from the same producers every year. The promise of "we'll buy again next year" gives producers the confidence to try something new.
03
Farming that can keep going
FAF in Brazil, for example, grows coffee together with shade trees, building farms that can stand up to heat and drought. The more shops we open, the more producers like them we can work with.
FAQ
FAQ
What is the "2050 problem"?
Because of climate change, the land where coffee can grow may shrink a lot by 2050. At the same time, more and more people around the world are drinking coffee.
If nothing changes, enjoying a good cup as easily as we do today may become harder. That's coffee's 2050 problem, and it's where our name comes from.
Can coffee made by a machine really taste good?
The Tap and our fully automatic espresso machine follow the same recipe every time, so every cup is just as good as the last. Our coffee is roasted in Kyoto and checked for quality before it ships.
Because the machines do the work, our team has more time to talk with you. That's the 2050 coffee way.
How is 2050 coffee different from other cafes?
Even a quick, easy cup has a story: who grew it, and why we chose it. By buying every year from producers who are adapting to a changing climate, we're building a way for everyday cups to support the future of the places where coffee grows.
Can I buy coffee beans?
Yes. You can buy the beans of any coffee you taste in the shop, right there. They're also available in our online shop.
Where can I find you?
We have shops in Kyoto (Shinkyogoku and Gion Shirakawa), Osaka (Shinsaibashi), Singapore and Manila.
